Our Philosophy

As walkers and climbers for many years we have come to realise that the right kit is critical to the enjoyment of your trip.

We set up ‘Barkers of Ringwood’ in 2000 for like minded outdoors enthusiasts who want the right equipment for their needs.

Thankfully testing your equipment in the extreme is very rarely required and more often it is about being comfortable and dry so you can enjoy yourself.

Our emphasis is about finding quality brands and linking them to personal experiences. ‘Barkers’ is about giving a personal and expert service in supplying quality products, fitted correctly for each individual. It is important to us that we build a long lasting relationship with our customers.

All our suppliers are specialists in their chosen field so, for example, the footwear we sell comes from manufacturers that only make their own boots in their own factories in Europe. We vet all our suppliers to ensure that they echo our stance on environment and working conditions. Wherever possible we source from UK suppliers although this is becoming increasingly difficult.
